Two Creeks Community School

Our mission is to provide a school that brings together children, parents, teachers and the community at large in order to create a respectful, nurturing environment that connects children to the natural world. Two Creeks School bridges the gap between home and the larger world while nourishing the character of the heart and mind.In doing so, we cultivate the natural joy found in learning.

Two Creeks Community School helps students feel "part of not apart from the natural world" (from Earth in Mind, by David Orr) in their daily lives. We honor our planet by providing locally grown organic foods, using earth friendly products, and reducing both consumption and waste production.

We strive to make our school accessible to all children and families seeking an alternative to the traditional classroom. Our fundraising efforts help ofset expenses, keeping tuition costs low and providing scholarships to students in need.

Guiding Principles
  • Children are naturally curious.
  • Each child comes to know the world in a unique manner that shapes his or her response to future events.
  • Learning occurs naturally as children interact with their environment.
  • A child's timeline for learning is influenced by cumulative experiences.
  • Children learn skills essential for personal growth and academic achievement by exploring where they fit into the story of the place they call home.
  • A deep connection to community encourages personal responsibility in evey aspect of children's lives.and reducing our consumption and waste production.
  • The same powers of observation that allow us to distinguish black-capped from mountain chickadees support children in learning to read, write, draw, and speak the language of math.
  • Education is a journey that:
    • Builds meaningful interpersonal relationships between students and the adults in their lives;
    • Rewards cooperative efforts between students and teachers;
    • Nourishes the heart and spirit as well as the intellect;
    • Fosters joy in learning and sharing.
